Phase II trial of efficacy and safety of combination chemotherapy with S-1 and low-dose weekly cisplatin in 26 NSCLC pts
Previously untreated pts with stage IIIB/IV NSCLC treated with oral S-1 (80 mg/m2 for 21 days) and cisplatin (3 consecutive weekly doses 25 mg/m2), then a 2-week rest period
Results
Of 26 pts, 6 had partial responses; overall response rate: 23.1%
Median survival: 13.4 mo; median progression-free survival: 5.4 mo
Grade 3/4 hematologic toxicities in 9 pts (34.6%), including 1 grade 4 neutropenia and thrombocytopenia
Non-hematologic adverse reactions: grade 3 events in 4 pts (15.3%); no severe renal toxicity or vomiting
