T, B and NK lymphocytes of untreated pts showed profound changes characterized by increased susceptibility to both spontaneous and mitogen-induced ex vivo apoptosis, modified distribution of main lymphocyte populations in peripheral blood, and altered activation status
Proportion of regulatory T cells also increased in these pts
Treatment with inhaled IL-2 normalized apoptosis rate in all studied lymphocyte subpopulations, as well as their distribution and activation status
