Black C et al. - These papers demonstrate a positive impact of invasive procedures as a method of pain management in terminal cancer pain. There remains reluctance on the part of both patients and professionals to use such techniques within terminal care, but the improvements in symptoms and quality of life should be noted. Many of the patients in these studies were managed at home following intersection of indwelling devices with few complications. Education of staff and patients is required regarding the use of such techniques.
