Dufresne A et al. – Maintenance hormonal treatment after first-line chemotherapy is recommended in pts with an estrogen- or progesterone- receptor-positive tumor

Methods

  • Study of factors that influence progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) after first-line chemotherapy in 560 metastatic breast cancer pts with positive tumor hormone receptor status
  • All 560 pts had stable disease or response to first-line chemotherapy excluded

Results
  • Factors that improved duration of PFS or OS on multivariate analysis: number of metastatic sites, metastatic sites, disease free interval, previous hormonal therapy, response to first-line chemotherapy, administration of maintenance hormonal therapy
