Golledge J et al. – This study suggests that a SNP within the region encoded by TNFRSF11B, which is believed to code for OPG, is associated with blood pressure. The mechanism underlying this observed association is currently unclear.

This study suggests an association between variation in the gene coding for the bone protein osteoprotegerin (OPG) and blood pressure. The finding maybe relevant to the know association between elevated circulating levels of OPG and cardiovascular events.
