Tiede K et al. – The current results suggest that in cardiac fibroblasts, biglycan is induced by a variety of stimuli including serum, thrombin and growth factors such as PDGF–BB and TGF-beta-1. This response is counteracted by NO and enhanced by TNF-alpha. Interestingly, both up– and downregulation were associated with posttranslational increase of GAG chain length.
