Statins are widely prescribed, with a significant role in reducing cardiovascular risk
Concern for hepatic safety profile may prevent use for pts with concurrent liver pathology
Contrary to current opinion, considerable evidence for and little evidence against prescription of statins to this population
Guidelines advising against statin use in this setting should be reviewed
