Blaha M et al. – In select asymptomatic pts, absence of coronary artery calcium (CAC) predicts excellent survival with 10-yr event rates of ~1%. A finding of 0 CAC may serve as a rationale to emphasize lifestyle therapies rather than pharmacotherapy and to forgo repeat imaging studies. Pts with low CAC score (CAC 1-10) are at increased risk vs pts with a 0 score and may a distinct risk group.
