Overcrowding is associated with delays in percutaneous coronary intervention for acute myocardial infarction
International Journal of Emergency Medicine, 06/10/09
Kulstad EB et al. - Overcrowding appears to be associated with a decreased likelihood of timely treatment for acute AMI in the ED.
Erik B. Kulstad, 06/11/09
| Although the methodology of this report limits the generalizability of the conclusions somewhat, the fact that crowding may actually impact an "all-hands-on-deck" event such as acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction is particularly concerning in the current environment in which most emergency departments function. |
