Berroeta C et al. - Perioperative neurological events are one of the most devastating complications of coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG). These events can be classified into type 1 lesions (ischemic stroke, transient ischemic attacks), and type 2 injuries (cognitive decline). The identification of atherosclerotic lesions of the aortic arch and the carotid bifurcation are critical issues\; they are the most significant marker for an adverse cerebral outcome after CABG.
