Annals of Pharmacotherapy, 05/04/07
Dorsch, Michael P PharmD, et al. - What is the relationship of aspirin resistance and adverse clinical events?
>Summary:
A case–control study which examined aspirin responses using the VerifyNow Aspirin Assay system in 50 cases and 50 controls who had taken a dose of aspirin within 48 hours of presentation to the clinic visit.
To determine what were the independent predictors of aspirin resistance were determined univariate and multivariate analyses were used
Outcomes: An increase in the prevalence of aspirin resistance among cases was not seen. Female sex was independently associated with aspirin resistance. It was determined that larger studies are needed to determine the relationship of aspirin resistance and adverse cardiovascular outcomes
