Odemis B et al. - The prevalence of BE was 1.2% in a Turkish population undergoing endoscopy for any reason. In terms of EGJ integrity, comparison of the groups showed that even in the absence of HH, patients with widening of the EGJ had an increased prevalence of major reflux symptoms and erosive esophagitis. However, histologically confirmed BE was not seen among patients with widened EGJ.
