Fidaxomicin: a guide to its use in Clostridium difficile infection

Scott LJ et al. – It is an effective and well tolerated option in the treatment of Clostridium difficile infections. Relative to oral vancomycin in the treatment of adult patients with C. difficile infection, fidaxomicin was no less effective with respect to clinical cure rates, was associated with a significantly lower rate of recurrence and had a generally similar tolerability profile. Fidaxomicin also preserved normal intestinal microflora.
