Padua DA et al. – The LESS is a valid and reliable tool for identifying potentially high–risk movement patterns during a jump–landing task.

Exclusive Author Commentary
Darin A. Padua, 10/13/09

The Landing Error Scoring System is a valid and reliable instrument that clinicians may utilize to identify movement patterns associated with increased risk for non-contact ACL injuries. Individuals who have high LESS scores (poor jump-landing technique) were shown to demonstrate biomechanical profiles that are associated with ACL injury risk compared to those with low LESS scores (excellent jump-landing technique). Clinicians may utilize the LESS as part of large scale screening protocols aimed at identifying high risk individuals for ACL injury.
