Correlates of comorbid mental disorders in a regional community-based sample
Australian Journal of Rural Health, 10/07/09
Heathcote KE et al. – Participants with coexisting disorders were more likely to be male, report a history of severe childhood assault and had higher levels of neuroticism, psychological distress and help–seeking behaviour. The findings suggest the role of early developmental factors on the complexity and severity of adult mental illness in a rural setting and the significant clinical consequences of comorbidity.
