Bushnell C – A review article on stroke prevention and lifetime risk in women focuses the weaknesses of data for development of guidelines based on coronary heart disease studies, in which stroke was included only as a secondary and less common outcome; under-representation in stroke prevention trial cohorts is also discussed; in addition, opportunities to improve stroke prevention are reviewed, including increasing awareness of risk and optimizing management of key modifiable risk factors: hypertension, hyperlipidemia, physical inactivity, obesity, diabetes
