This course provides an update in geriatric medicine, including topics such as common infections, pharmacology, ethical issues, diabetes, depression in the elderly and more. The Geriatric Medicine Course helps prepare physicians in taking the examination to earn a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Geriatrics. This course may also assist individuals who are preparing to sit for the Geriatric module of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) certification/recertification exam.
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
- Provide improved primary care to the elderly patient.
- Become a resource of information for primary care geriatric medicine in your community.
- Identify and discuss medical and psychiatric health issues that impact the elderly patient.
- Analyze the key geriatric syndromes, their differential diagnoses, evaluation and management.
