Pain Tolerance and Obstructive Sleep Apnea in the Elderly

Onen SH et al. – The treatment of obstructive sleep apnea with continuous positive airway pressure would have an analgesic effect. This would represent a unique outcome attributed to continuous positive airway pressure treatment. Given the high prevalence of both obstructive sleep apnea and chronic pain conditions in the elderly; the authors findings could hold many implications for very large segments of the elderly population.
