Clinical and molecular effects on mature burn scars after treatment with a fractional CO2 laser
Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, 08/03/2012
Qu L et al. – The authors' study indicated that fractional CO2 resulted in clinical improvement of mature burn scar. Alteration of types I and III procollagen, matrix metalloproteinase–1, transforming growth factor–β2, –β3, basic fibroblast growth factor , as well as miRNAs miR–18a and miR–19a expression may be responsible for the clinical improvement after treatment. The finding may have implications for novel treatments and further the authors' understanding of fractional CO2 laser treatment.
