Mitochondrial Transcription Factor A Serves as a Danger Signal by Augmenting Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell Responses to DNA
The Journal of Immunology, 06/21/2012
Julian MW et al. – The results indicate that plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC) contribute to sterile immune responses by recognizing the mitochondrial component of necrotic cells and further incriminate Mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) and mitochondrial DNA as likely mediators of pDC activation under these circumstances.
