Lavirgen AIL et al. – A healthy 11–month–old boy was referred because of a frontal mass that had been rapidly growing since he was 1 month old. The frontal mass had been enlarging and had bled spontaneously several times. The lesion consisted of a 4.5 × 3 cm indurated tumor with ecstatic superficial vessels over its surface. Echo–Doppler scanning showed a solid mass with no vessels on or outside of the mass. The nodule was surgically removed under general anesthesia. Histopathological examination revealed a cystic lesion in the lower dermis with basophilic cells and calcium deposits, findings consistent with a giant pilomatricoma. [more...]
