A common surgery to correct sleep apnea in children may provide limited to no benefit in obese children. Obstructive sleep apnea occurs when the upper airway collapses or becomes blocked during sleep. The main treatment for the condition in children is surgical removal of the tonsils and adenoids, but a new study raises questions about the risk–to–benefit ratio of the surgery in obese children.
