Remacle M et al. – The goal is to assess the reliability of frozen section in this setting by comparing its results with those of routine histology. Frozen section is reliable in laser–assisted cordectomies, when performed by an experienced team; it has a high negative–predictive value. It can limit the need, cost and emotional stress of second look surgeries.

Frozen-section analysis is a reliable tool in CO2-laser assisted cordectomies. It enables the surgeon to extend the margins of the resection when needed. It has a high negative predictive value, is cost effective and limits the use of systematic second look procedures.
