Gold laser tonsillectomy—A safe new method
International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology , 08/10/09
Giles JE et al. – In the Gold laser group there were 7 bleeding events and 7 dehydration admissions. The Coblation group had 9 bleeding events and 1 dehydration admission. The cold steel group had 1 bleed and 2 dehydration admissions. The hemorrhage rate associated with Gold laser tonsillectomy was statistically equivalent to cold steel dissection and significantly lower than in the authors' Coblation control group. Tonsillectomy by means of the Gold laser can be safely performed in the pediatric population.
