Su YX et al. - Vascular malformation with phleboliths must be included in the differential diagnosis of salivary gland obstruction.

Exclusive Author Commentary
Gui-qing Liao , 06/12/09

Salivary gland obstruction caused by vascular malformation with phleboliths is relatively uncommon and may be masquerading as sialolithiasis. This manuscript presents a case of a patient who suffered from vascular malformation with phleboliths which caused submandibular gland obstruction and was once misdiagnosed as sialolithiasis. We present this case to suggest that vascular malformation with phleboliths must be included in the differential diagnosis of salivary gland obstruction.
