Pytynia K et al. - Melanoma of the head and neck may be metastatic to nodes within the parotid gland. The pattern of spread of melanoma in the head and neck and the significance of this to salivary gland surgery is reviewed. The techniques of sentinel node biopsy for nodes within the parotid gland are detailed.
