Eventration of the diaphragm: A pitfall in blunt thoracic trauma
Injury Extra, 04/30/09
Bonanno F - A patient with traumatic diaphragmatic hernia usually does not lie down in bed eating comfortably in flat position. Likewise, many patients with pericardial tamponade, mandible fracture or airway-compromise post-neck-trauma almost always prefer to stay sitting to avoid worsening of dyspnoea in the supine position and to improve breathing recruitment.
