Avitia S et al. - A 25-year-old woman presented with a 3-month history of a parapharyngeal-space mass. She denied any associated symptoms of facial weakness, otalgia, and pain. On physical examination, fullness was seen in the left parotid area, but no discrete mass was palpated. MRI shows that the 4.0 x 3.5 x 2.5-cm mass in the left parapharyngeal space appears to be distinct from the parotid glandBased on these findings, the patient underwent surgery via a transparotid/transcervical approach for diagnostic and definitive treatment of the tumor.
