Padgett S et al. – Currently, the treatment of choice for refractory tertiary hyperparathyroidism is a total parathyroidectomy with autotransplantation of the parathyroid tissue into the forearm. Recurrent hyperparathyroidism after autotransplantation requiring surgical excision of the autograft is uncommon.
