Myopathy can cause skeletal muscle weakness, tenderness, and pain and is often associated with elevated creatine kinase levels. There are many neuromuscular causes of myopathy, including inflammatory and infectious myopathies, metabolic and hereditary myopathies, and those caused by drugs or toxins
