Application of renal replacement therapy in acute decompensated heart failure
Intensivmedizin und Notfallmedizin, 08/25/09
Kierdorf HP – Renal insufficiency is common in patients with acute coronary insufficiency and is proven to be an independent risk factor for these patients. In addition, more than 70% of patients with ACI will develop an increased creatinine concentration. The main reasons for this so–called cardio–renal syndrome are changes in hemodynamics, volume depletion, and the activation of the renin–aldosterone–angiotensin and the sympathetic nervous systems. In such cases, the use of extracorporeal renal replacement therapy may be useful. The same is true for patients with ACI and acute renal failure.
