Hurn C - For patients requiring massive transfusion following injury, a 1:1 ratio of FFP:RBC is associated with a reduction in mortality. Early deaths appear to be associated with a lower ratio of blood products. This study adds weight to the evidence for a massive transfusion protocol incorporating the early use of a 1:1 ratio of FFP:RBC.
