Characteristics and mortality of type 2 diabetic patients hospitalized for severe iatrogenic hypoglycemia
Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice, 05/14/09
Fadini GP et al. - Severe iatrogenic hypoglycemia in OHA-treated patients has a worse presentation, but is not associated with a higher long-term mortality than in insulin-treated patients.
Gian Paolo Fadini, 05/14/09
Patients with hypoglycemia due to insulin actually tended to have a worse long term outcome than patients on oral agents. However, when we controlled for comorbidities, it turned out not to be significant, thus meaning that patients on insulin had a worse prognosis because they were more sick. |
