paulo marcelino, 05/10/09

Echocardiography is a leading diagnostic tool for critical care patients. However other patients can also benefit from it, like those in emergency department and internal medicine wards.

It is a part of the new hemodynamic concepts in this field, in a time were the phisician must live without cardiac filling pressures to guide therapy. A diagnostic tool like echocardiography is quite valuable and an aly for patients and phisicians, and represents a tipical tool on this second stage of hemodynamic leading thought in critical care medicine.

More investigation in the field and structured training are necessary.
