Intravitreal bevacizumab (Avastin) as adjunctive treatment for severe retinopathy of prematurity (ROP)
Journal of American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus , 04/08/09
Recchia T et al. - The use of bevacizumab in selected cases of ROP may facilitate disease regression without obvious systemic toxicity. Eyes in which full laser photocoagulation was insufficient has demonstrated promising results. In untreated eyes, the use of bevacizumab may permit a less complicated and more complete definitive treatment. Optimization of dosing, timing, and indications will require additional study.
