Campbell TA et al. - The emergency physician may be confronted with the task of resuscitating a pregnant patient. Approximately 1 in 30,000 pregnancies are complicated by maternal cardiac arrest. There are many causes of cardiac arrest in the general population; pregnancy increases the risks to both the mother and the fetus.
