AstraZeneca announced that the US Food and Drug Administration has accepted the New Drug Application submitted on June 2009 by its development partner, POZEN, Inc., for VIMOVO tablets. VIMOVO is a fixed–dose combination of enteric–coated naproxen, a pain–relieving non–steroidal anti–inflammatory drug and immediate release esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, under investigation for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis in patients who are at risk of developing NSAID–associated gastric ulcers.
