Stepped-dose efavirenz reduces neuropsychiatric events

Results from a randomized, double–blind controlled trial showed that initiating efavirenz in patients with HIV–1 infection in a stepwise dose schedule over a 2–week period reduced the incidence and intensity of neuropsychiatric adverse events without compromising virologic efficacy.
