According to FDA Commissioner Dr. Margaret A. Hamburg, the regulatory agency is ready to get tough on enforcement. In an interview with The New York Times, Dr. Hamburg promised to make the FDA more transparent, hire new leaders, and improve the agency's standing within the scientific community. She said that, in order to meet the increased demand for imported foods, medical devices, and drugs, the FDA would reach out to create more partnerships with foreign regulators.
