Medical reference content vendor Epocrates Inc. has introduced an over-the-counter drug reference module that can be loaded on mobile computing devices. The module enables clinicians to check a patient's prescribed and OTC medications for harmful interactions. Clinicians, for instance, can identify specific ingredients in a combination of medications to determine if an antihistamine could cause excessive drowsiness, if a decongestant could interact with blood pressure medication, or if a patient is getting too much acetaminophen.
