Nexavar Approved in Japan for the Treatment of Advanced Liver Cancer

Bayer received approval in Japan for Nexavar tablets for the treatment of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Nexavar, an oral anti-cancer drug, jointly developed by Bayer HealthCare AG and Onyx Pharmaceuticals, Inc., is the only drug therapy shown to significantly improve overall survival in patients with the disease. The product is already marketed in Japan as a therapy for unresectable or metastatic renal cell carcinoma.
