EHR Advocate Named to Lead CDC

President Obama has named Dr. Thomas Frieden, M.D., an infectious disease specialist, as director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Frieden also is a strong advocate of electronic health records. He has led the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene since January 2002 and in recent years implemented a program to encourage EHR adoption among primary care providers.
