Pray WS et al. - Rashes are ubiquitous in the American population, being one of the more common reasons for pharmacy and physician visits. This is due to the fact that rashes can be caused by many nonallergenic problems, but also by exposure to thousands of chemicals and other substances, as well as dozens of other diagnoses. Dermatitis causes over seven million visits to physicians annually and over 430,000 hospital outpatient visits.
