Approximately 25 percent of Americans are affected by chronic venous insufficiency. Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is the second most common vascular problem in the United States and affects as many as 600,000 people every year. Graduated compression stockings are routinely prescribed for DVT prophylaxis by health care providers in both hospital and community settings.
