Crawford SE et al. – A purulent MRSA SSTI strongly predicted the presence of a clindamycin–susceptible MRSA isolate. Presence of the pvl genes was almost universal among MRSA isolates causing purulent SSTIs; this was less common in nonpurulent SSTIs and other clinical syndromes.
