Ferraldeschi R et al. - Activation of angiogenesis is a necessary condition for tumor growth and metastatic dissemination of solid tumors. Numerous anti-angiogenic agents for the treatment of melanoma are currently in clinical trials or in development. A number of early-phase clinical trials have been completed and studies investigating combinations of targeted agents or combining treatment with chemotherapy are ongoing.
