Initial periodontal therapy reduced systemic and local 25-hydroxy vitamin D3 and interleukin-1beta in patients with aggressive periodontitis

Liu K et al. – Both 25–hydroxy vitamin D3 and interleukin–1beta levels could be reduced systemically and locally in patients with G–AgP by initial periodontal therapy. 25–hydroxy vitamin D3 might be involved in periodontal inflammation.

Periodontal therapy improves the clinical parameters with decreased systemic and local 25OHD3 concentrations in patients with G-AgP. Variation of systemic and local 25OHD3 levels might be helpful to evaluate treatment effect on G-AgP.
