A new policy urging dentists to check for tell–tale signs of neglect when treating children with severe oral disease. Dental neglect is defined as the persistent failure to meet a child's basic oral health needs. Oral disease can have a significant impact on the health of a child. Consequences can include severe pain, loss of sleep and even reductions in body weight and growth.
