Kirkevang LL et al. - The aim was to describe the prevalence and incidence of caries lesions in relation to the placement and replacement of amalgam and non-metal fillings in a randomly selected adult Danish population. The percentage of teeth with caries increased from front teeth to posterior teeth. The lowest percentage of surfaces with caries was detected in unfilled surfaces, and the highest in non-metal-filled surfaces. The results from the present study suggest the need for reflection and diligence when using non-metal materials for dental fillings especially in relation to molars.
