Willett J et al. - They concluded that a 1% diphenhydramine solution should be used cautiously for the inferior alveolar nerve block. The combination lidocaine/diphenhydramine solution was irritating postinjection and was not as effective as a lidocaine solution for pulpal anesthesia.
